Ductile Iron Gate Valve Rising Stem

Ductile Iron Gate Valve Rising Stem

Application

The Ductile Iron Gate Valve Rising Stem has the bottom end of the stem attached to the Disc. When the handwheel is turned in a clockwise rotation, the stem rises through the handwheel utilizing the yolk, drawing the stem out of the valve, and the disc (gate) out of the way of the media. Because the stem rises above the handwheel, it is easy to identify from a distance whether the valve is open or closed, so it is well suited to large, open environments.

The stem and its thread are protected from corrosive mediums by the bonnet and there is no added resistance from the medium in operating the handwheel as the stem and mediums do not occupy the same space. One of the key advantages of a rising stem gate valve is its ability to provide a reliable and tight shut-off. When fully closed, the gate or wedge comes into contact with the valve seats, creating a tight seal that prevents any fluid from flowing through. This feature makes it ideal for applications where a complete closure is required, such as pipelines, refineries, power plants, and water treatment facilities.
